Principles of Interior Design

Interior design is the science and art how we experience interior of the building, through the manipulation of spatial volume as well as surface treatment. A scientist (designer) is basically concerned with the solution of problems (be they functional, aesthetic, or psychological) that are presented to him. The artist is more concerned with emotive or expressive ideas and with the solution of problems he himself poses. It’s a powerful, essential part of our daily lives and affects how we live, work, play, and even heal.

Since at least the middle of the 20th century, the term interior design has been so loosely applied as to be nearly meaningless. Basically, you don’t have to break the bank to have a suitable and attractive decor in your home; there exist boundless ways to make your home look more beautiful and appealing. All you need to do is to get very creative and resourceful with it. There are no rules when it comes to interior design, but rather guidelines to assist you in attaining the perfect design for your home. Here there are :

1. Space interior design
2. Balance interior design
3. Shape interior design
4. Color interior design
5. Lighting interior design
When doing interior design it is necessary to think of the house as a totality. This is not to say that all interior design elements should be the same but they should work together and complement each other to strengthen the whole composition. Another important element of interior design where it is necessary to take infinite pains is details. Unlike color people find details boring. Details should not be obvious but they should be right, enhancing the overall feel of a room. Gather things from around the house that make you feel good and study them carefully for color cues and perhaps a clue to the mood you’re looking for in your home. This is the beginning of a well-planned and decorated living area.
